A Voyage to the Unknown Coast

A white motor cruiser is tethered to the wharf at Granite Island,
near Victor Harbor, South Australia. A long haired man with a
grey beard simply says…
“My name’s Phil Sawyer, and I’m a fisherman.”
So
begins this 100 minute video celebration of the 200th
anniversary of the voyages of Matthew Flinders and Nicolas Baudin
along the coast of South Australia, and of Phil’s tribute to the
explorers and pioneers of South
Australia who followed...
in Flinders Wake.
Along with his daughter Kate and son Michael, he proceeds to retrace
Flinders voyage along the unknown coast, in his 40 ft ex-abalone
boat, the TARA, from Encounter Bay, where the two expeditions met,
to the islands of Nuyts Archipelago, in the Great
Australian Bight, near Ceduna, where Flinders first set foot on the
Unknown Coast.
